Hey guy's....wow, always more questions.  I have a 70 vert, with factory air, and there is no expansion tank...just a tube running down side of radiator. I guy at a show mentioned to me that he just stuck a plastic bottle down on the side were it wedges in and ran his tube into that so he does not see any anyoying dribbles, and the radiator pulls back in what it needs..........I just found a small amount of floid has come out the tube on mine, and I would like to use the same simple solution...do I need a special radiator cap or something, or do they all work the same ( my currant cap has a flip down lock lever) THANKS AGAIN!!

you need an expansion tank, the overflow lines feed from the bottom of the tank, you can buy one from eklers for a few bucks,rd

technically you can use any bottle just make sure the hose is at the bottom of the bottle. on my 75 the tube from rad connects to the top and inside tank hose goes to bottom and tank has about a quarter of it filled with antifreeze. it will suck in any antifreeze it needs and any that comes out when hot goes in the bottle.

Your car did not have an expansion tank because it has factory air. I was confused about that on my '72 for a long time. There is no room for it because the compressor takes up all the room. Later years had the smaller a/c  unit and a different style tank. Your car is correct the way it is....

a lot of cars before 73 did not have them but as rd said they made aftermarket kits to add them.  a/c unit size really didn't make a difference as my 75 has the larger unit on it. they mounted the tank on the rear of the right front wheel well. the tank is only about 6" high and about as long as the wheel well.

here is the pic of the tank on my 75. the a/c compressor is not installed but it is the larger style. the hose comes from the radiator along side and the only thing i have not installed yet is the hose that is the overflow from the tank. that one is just routed to under car. hope this helps.
