Weird question for the viscous fan clutch.

My 454 was running great, needed to change belts for the trip to Woodward.  Changed belts but now the fan engages at low speed perfect, but even at highway speed I can hear the howl of the fan.  At some points in the trip the fan would free wheel, but then would engage again.

When I had t change the belts, I removed the fan.  I made sure I tried to keep it up right, instead of laying it flat.

I am getting ready for FunFest, but I don't want to hear the howl for 7 hours.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

If the fan clutch is staying on then it would be best to go buy another...now if its an original part bring it with you to carlisle as there are guys that rebuild them back to stock spec. that will be there...you can tell by the date code on the flange area.. Rich
