I have a seven blade fan of which two blades are bent a little at the tips.  The fan has been on the car since I restored it in the early 90's.  I am replacing the water pump and all hoses.  Do you think I should replace the fan.  Water pump was installed on the car in 1989.  Ecklers makes a replacement and they also make a  six blade aluminum one.   What should I do?

What should I check on the clutch while I have it off?

A few of us In the NW put Flex Fans on with Spacers and have no Fan Clutch. We have found our Vettes to run cooler. Flex-a Lite "17 Flex Fans (stainless steel blades) with about a 2" spacer.

Depends on how disturbing the bent tips are to you.  Is it cooling okay?

Personally,   Mine turned into a "while I'm at it" project.

I now have a Dewitts Aluminium with Electric Spals....they are AWESOME..

Sorry, NW is indeed NorthWest (us in Wa & OR). At this point of replacing your water pump you have plenty of options and now would be the best time to make a fan choice when you get everything taken apart.

Cooling just fine, just concerned that it may mess up the new water pump?  I could live w/ it, but a new one would be nicer.

Make sure the fan is still balanced with the bent tips.
An imbalance will shorten the life of the bearings.

I have decided to just get a new one from Ecklers and be done w/ it.
