Today I noticed that my fan shroud is pulled away from the radiator towards the bottom on both sides. The gap begins about half way down on both sides and spreads to about one eighth of an inch at the bottom. I see where the shroud attaches to the top portion of the radiator but not anywhere else. Can anyone describe how and where the shroud attaches toward the bottom of the radiator? Thanks in advance. KevinSPONSOR AD:: (Our Sponsors help support C3VR)

Is the shroud actually loose, or are you just seeing a gap between it and the radiator?

It's not loose.
I just noticed the gap on both sides of the radiator.
Reason I'm asking is because occasionally I hear what sounds like my fan blades making slight contact with something.
I replaced the fan clutch and my motor mounts seem to be good.
I'm searching to fix this annoying noise that comes and goes at will under all different conditions (I can't make it happen - It just does - sometimes

Did the radiator in my '78 last winter. 2 metal clips slip onto the radiator mount and the shroud just slips down into them. Don't know what they call them. Kinda like a flatened "S" clip made of that hardened spring steel. Mine are about 3" or so in from each end. Just went out and looked and mine fits tight at the bottom but the way the shroud is made, it is open a little along the sides. Maybe the clips rusted out, not much to them.
Hey Jeff,
I saw the clips that you described.
When I try to squeeze the lower portion of the fan shroud against the radiator mount, the gap closes.
I'll look to replace the clips.
Thanks for your help!
