Okay, I must be a moron. I can't figure out how to get the center console off to get to the heater controls. The right side of the controls came loose and are dipping down. I don't know if something broke or a screw or something came out. I pushed them over to defrost and max heat about a week ago and it all of the sudden came loose. Thanks in advance. Tom

It takes a little lookin and a lot of patience. I have a 78 so I dont know if its the same but here is how I did it.
1)take off side covers that sit between seat and shifter.
2) you might have to take off the gages cluster. I already had mine out. ther are at least 6 screws holdin that in,
3)then there are 6 screws holdin the center console in 2 on each side and 2 by arm rest. If you have already removed the guages cluster.
4) Disconnect the light for shifter be sure to watch out for the little indicator leaver that goes on the shifterthen there are 3 srews holdin in the heater control.
Hope it helps

I was really hoping it was going to be easier than that. Oh well, another project.

I have had my center consel apart. It is time consuming but it can be done
1. Remove both side panels
2. Remove two screws from the bottom of the center bezel (where it meets the consol)
3. Remove the screws from the rear of the consol by the arm rest
4. Loosen the screws for the consol
5. Push consol towards rear of vehicle
6. Remove the screws and lift off the consol, then what WilliamMoore2 says.
Piece of cake !!!!!
