Fan works when set to AC but not on Heat/Defrost.

Anyone got any thoughts on this one? I'm guessing the fan motor myself but I'm not sure how to trouble shoot it short of just buying a new one and putting it in.

If it runs in AC then the motor works. The fan switch contols the motor it should not matter if it's in AC or heat. Maybe the control lever is shorting out something under the console? Just a guess.

I agree with Dave, it sounds like the lever.  I changed one out - brand new from Eckler's and it did not work.  Got another one from them and it works now.  They have copper connector points on the back side and the lever can come loose/wobble at the pivot.

At least that is what happened to me.  I am still not impressed with the part they sent in and that is the only negative thing I could say about them, but I might try another supplier if that is what you find is the problem.  That should be the problem.  Do you have different speeds at the A/C setting?

Yup...if the fan blows with A/C, then it is working. The problem is most likely to be the control switch/lever that changes the "modes"(A/C-heat-defog)
Like Rick I am curious to know if the fan has all speeds on the A/C setting...

If I remember right I have the same problem last year. I had to move between the heater and A/C selection to get it to work.

gurtz, I had the same problem with my ac/heater panel, but I had to replace six control panels before I got one that works, all from Eckler's. Eckler's did return to me $400.00 bucks for labor cost. It was a complete pain.
JimG, man it sounds like a wiring problem to me, I hope I'm wrong, good luck man, Gene
