I'm trying to remove the heater core out of my 72 vette. I already have the dash removed and all of the ducting out. All my manuals sound as if the core is to be remove from under the dash. How do I get it out... from the engine compartment?? HELP!!!

Yes, the heater core is removed from the inside.
All you have to do is remove the air handling / distribution box (the big black box that all the ducting was connected to) and the heater core will just pop out at you.
O.K., maybe it won't pop out at you... and the statement "all you have to do" is probably stretching reality a bit
... the heater core is contained in the air handling / distribution box.
To get the air box out, there are a couple nuts you remove from the engine side and a bolt or screw or two from the inside. The air box will be free.
The rest is easy, you'll see the heater core...
Good luck.
