Topic: Heater Core
in Forum: C3 Cooling and Heating Systems
I think I have a leak (So what else is new...) Heres my questions on this advanture
How hard of a job is it?
What do I need other then the core to do this right the 1st time?
Being no one uses a C3 heater, is there any prob or heads up if I just bypass it?
Thanks! Kevin.
Getting a quality replacement core that fits will be your biggest problem. I gave up and had the old one fixed up. The tubes from the replacement core never fit correctly, so I sent it back.
It's not real easy job, but I do suggest replacing all of the old seals and hoses...they will be totally disintigrated and lots of crap will be in there - leaves, pine needles, dog / cat hair...yes really.
Kevin,
To pull the core on my '68, I had to pull the right side of the dash & the center instrument cluster.
After you pull the connecting vent you have to take out the entire heater box, disassemble it & change out the heater core.
Many people use a basic in-line valve to shut off the flow to the core due to a hot cockpit, so that's always an option.
Good luck,
Anthony
