"Couple of hours?"
Sorry...that was just too funny!

If your car has A/C, it will take a bit longer than just a couple of hours, fer sher. With-out A/C, it's not as bad. Either way, it is probably at least a half-day job.
I would suggest a service manual for complete directions, as you will be dealing with a few vacuum lines, and cables connected to the plenum box. I'm sure others here have tackled this project, and will give some neat tips/tricks.

You don't need a heater in FL. Connect the hoses that go to the heater core together and FORGITABUTIT!!!

Maybe blow the water out of the core too.

If it's not leaking, leave it alone!!!!! Changing it can lead to a total rebuild.
That's what happened to me.

It's amazing how much stuff you can find wrong, under the dash and around the engine, when you replace a heater core.

If you replace it, get a reseal kit, bought mine from Doctor Rebuild.

If your valve covers are leaking, this is the time to fix that. I found it easy the remove the heater box without the cover in the way.

See? One thing will lead to another.

Just remember, this is fun, and you can say, "I did it myself"!!

Before I get off my sss and investigate a book or two,is the core worked on from engine or interior side? No motor in car,no interior in car,no hood on car.
