Heater Hose
Like most C3s my heater core went belly up. I live in Oceanside Ca so don't have a real need for a heater. I conected the upper and lower hose's with a 3/4" x 5/8 in adapter. My question is will it hurt to remove the hose's and block the intake manifold and water pump hose outlets. I have been told that it is best to let the water circulate through the hose's or the engine will over heat. I have seen pictures of the heater core being remove from the engine compartment on a non A/C 78. Any thoughts.

The only problem that might occur is if the thermostat got stuck closed on you. With the hoses still on, and connected, it would at least give you some coolant circulation.

Years ago when in high school when a car I had developed a leaking heater core, that's what a mechanic did while the core was being repaired. It caused absolutely no problems at all.

After my heater core went I pulled it out, didn't put a new one back in. Plugged the water pump and intake. Works just fine! So if you did choose to go that route you shouldn't have any problems.
