OK guys, pulling my hair out here. I can't get the $%$#@* heater conrol back in. I can't believe there's no stinking slack in vac hoses! Everytime I try the big vac fitting on the left side comes off, the little tab that's supposed to hold it in place ripped off.
Thanks,
Matt

If there's no slack in the vacuum lines, buy a couple of vacuum connectors or tees and add some tubing on them for some slack.

There should be more than enough slack in the lines. Maybe you should just buy the kit to replace all the lines and be done with it.

Its been a while but if I remember right the vac.hoses meet into a molded transparent adapter that plugs all the hoses into the heater control at once, sometimes the adapter gets hard from heat and doesn't stay connected to the vac. dist. manifold at the control, if you have enough slack, and the hoses are not hard or cracked, snip the hoses at the adapter and slide each hose onto its proper position on the manifold, new hose kits don't come with the molded adapter.

Do you have the console pushed forward enough? There is not much slack in the heater control vacuum lines and if the console has been removed and put back in but is not forward enough the hoses will not reach.

I will try taking the radio out this time so I can get it ahead farther. I'll let you know how it works out.

Matt - The angle on the radio has the back of the chassis down in the back. Sometime, the air lines are under the chassis, and takes all the slack away.
Loosen the radio brackets holding the radio, and that should free up the lines to get connected easier.
Don't forget to put the retainers back on the plastic studs on the controller. If you will need any connectors, there are sources for that if you need to know.

When you talk about retainers, are you talking about the retainers that keep the cables from slipping off?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt - The air lines are in the middle. They are encased in a flange type piece. There are two retainers holding this plastic flange on. It unplugs the whole assembly from the control unit. The retainers are like push nuts. Just compression fittings. If you would take that off, you can probably get back in there, and get yourself some slack on the lines. It is easy to put back on, and not that critical. OK ?

I'll give it a try, thanks for all the good advise.
