As I stated earlier, my car does not have a fan shroud on it. Since we have had some 90 degree days here, I can tell i'm going to have a heating problem. I finally found a shroud and the lower radiator baffle for an automatic w/o AC (that was no easy task) and had them blasted and painted. I took a look at my radiator core support today, trying to figure out how the guy was going to bolt the shroud bracket to the radiator support. It just isn't going to happen. I pulled all my receipts from corvette central and discovered that I have a big block radiator core support.

Rather than try and "rig" this small block shround to the big block radiator support, I think I'm just going with an electric fan. That is if you guys think it will keep the car cool.

I'm looking for some opinions from you guys that have electric fans on your cars. I still haven't installed my 7 blade fan because I was waiting for the guy to do that when he put the fan shroud on. I think that might help some but still afraid that I might have some heating problems.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions or advice.

I have installed the Spal Electric Fans Sold By Dewitts with there Radiator. Fits right in its a bit tight on the A-Arms till everything is in place. Havn't Used them Yet I'm still getting them Wired. If You can find them for a Better Price than Dewitts sells them for I'd go for it as I don't think they change anything on them to make them work in Vettes. A long Time ago I read a Hot rod that had a Test on Fans and Guess wich one Won? The Stock Fan with a Fan Clutch Beat the Flex Fans and the Electrics for Both HP and Air Flow.....Richard....

It is also my understanding that there is little that can match the cooling abilities of the stock 7 blade fan with a working clutch and a properly fitting shroud. aceinthehole4938828.4285185185

This is true & using water wetter & less anti freeze can lower your temp 15-20 degrees. I personally use a flex fan, but saw no change from the stock 7 blade. The water wetter made the biggest difference.

My 72  350 auto/ac car is missing the shroud - If you aren't going to use the one you have , and it will fit my AC car ?- I would be interested in buying it , if you want to sell. Let me know

Thanks, Big Al

Al,

I'm taking the car to have the deluxe interior kit installed next week. The guy that is doing that is the same one that will be installing the shroud and/or electric fan. I talked with him today and he says that if I have the BB radiator and core support that I can use the plastic 454 shroud.

As soon as he sees exactly what I have, he can tell me if I'll be able to use the metal shroud that I have. I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

Jim... let me say a word as famous tuner : already Duntov has explained it years ago : your super car has no shroud because at high velocitys , for witch it as built ! , the air-stream is greater by speed without shroud than with shroud+fan in "55" zone's. So take your car to the track , run it above 100 mph and see what cooling you have !
just a proposal of a friend....
