I'm thinking of installing an electric fan in my '77. I live in the Valley (Rio Grande) where it can get pretty hot during the summer. I'm in the process of building a new engine to drop in, and I've had a couple people mention that an electric fan may be good to go with. I just purchased an 18" flex fan, and was planning on getting a high output waterpump along with using Redline's WetterWater which is supposed to drop water temp as much as 30 degrees. Kinda stuck on which way to go (since I haven't installed the flexfan yet, I can still return it to Summit). So, I guess what it boils down to (no pun intended), is either sticking with buying the high output water pump and keeping the flexfan or, going with an electric fan and having to get an electric water pump. If anyones installed an electric one in their C3, what's your opinion, and if so, do you have to remove the stock fan shroud? If that's the case, is there a particular set up you used, shroud-wise? Any help would sure be appreciated.
Thanks, Marc.
Thanks, Marc.

Electric fan doesen't mean you half to use a ecectric water pump.
I just installed a Dewitts alumiun rad. ecectric fans and a Hi volume water pump on my 75. yes you no longer need the shroud without that and without the manual fan you have a lot more room for service. Between the fans and the amps on my stero,I did half to increase my stock alternator from 63amps. to 100amps. just to make shure I hade enought .. the thermostat for the fans screws into your intake manifold mine is 185* on 165* off, great set up, a bit bore money than the flex fan but running way cool .............

One of the members of my club was having overheating problems. He is using a stock water pump, stock fan and he added an electric fan ( purchased from a local speed shop ). The fan came with mounting hardware.
The combination of electric fan, stock fan and stock water pump caused his overheating to go away, even sitting for extended periods in traffic.
