I bought this little gem a while back and am finally ready to flush this thing. What heater hose do I hook it into for best results.....top of manifold or the one on the water pump....or does it matter.
Thanks

What you want to do is put the tee in the hose going from heater to water pump. Then pinch off the hose between the tee and the pump with needle nose vise grips or similar. That way you are back flushing the system. Wink  "T"

I wouldn't cut the heater hose to do it..get a short piece from the parts store..I think its 5/8 or 1/2 inch..get both..pull the hose off the water pump and do the flush..if there is an additive flush the motor until all the coolant is out then add the flush with it full of water also..put the cap on the tee and run the car untill it gets up to temp..then flush out all the goo with the flush kit untill only clean water comes out..if the radiator has a drain use that and remove hoses and get as much of the water out as you can then remove the flush kit and refill in the radiator..if your driveway has an upward incline park it nose up and run the car with the rad cap off and wait for the heater hoses or heat to come out of the vents..I always let the car cool down with the cap off and then add up to the line and done..

Good point Rich. Flush tee's are ugly in such a beautiful ride. You can unhook the hose at the pump, stick the tee in the end of hose, plug the other end of the tee, and back flush it that way. Then you can just pull the tee out and hook-er back up. I was gonna look at my 71, but I believe the hose size is 3/4". Be careful what kind of flush solvent you use. Personally in my business I don't use the stuff, unless the system is really ugly inside. DO NOT!!! Use Permatex flush. It has hydrochloric acid in it. "T"

I do hate it when people leave that ugly T in the car..didn't know permatex flush had HCL in it..not good on brass or rubber hoses! What are they thinking..? I use BG or Wynns here..I think just changing the fluid is what really helps..not sure if that flush stuff really does anything..some of them use a sealer and seal conditioner..haven't had an issue yet..no clogging like some do.

I just happen to have saved the old heater hoses. I have it rigged up now with a short piece on it. No ugly T's for me.
Thanks Yostusota....that one of yours is pretty sweet also.

Well the flush went well. Flushed it till it was running pretty clear. Added little bottle of prestone flush and let the car run for about 20 minuets. Let it cool for a while and hooked up the hose again and the water coming out was about as bad as when I started. Let it flush for about 20 or 30 minuets and it was really clean. Looked like bottled water. Added some anti freeze and topped it off using Yostusota's filling method and cleaned it up a little and I am good to go.
Thanks Guy's
