Hi
I have almost got the 71 ready for the road. It's being aligned now. Only one problem, thats belt/ pulley alignment. The water pump pulley is forward about 1/8 inch more than the crank shaft pulley? If I shim out the lower pulley it put the PS out of alignment. I have a short pump, is there more than one lenght for the short waterpumps? Is ther more than one double cruve waterpump pulley. I could solve the whole problem with a billet set up but $1000 is a bit much. Any one have any input?

I guess you mixed and matched parts? There is only one water pump length, but there are Corvette and non-corvette pumps. Corvettes have a 3/4" shaft, all others have 5/8". There are different pulleys to match, too. Have fun, and be thankful it isn't a Pontiac, seems like every motor, car and year has a different pulley combination! Joe
Its the orginal vette pump, I rebuilt it. I don't know about the pulley or the fan they were on the car. The belts were out of alignment when I bought the car. I just picked up two other pullies to try, one seems a little deeper? I have the numbers engine about 60% plan to put in in durning the winter.
