Another question for the panel of experts:................

Been thinking about removing my stock 78 a/c compressor etc mainly because it does not work, they are very costly to repair and maintain and I really do not need the a/c.....I am really a t-tops out vette driver anyway.

Are there any written procedures out there for this type of project??? I would appreciate any and all comments, suggestions, procedures and/or tips to accomplish it???????????......Oh yes.....is there any concern about any residual refrigerant in the systems lines/hoses???????

Again and in advance.....thankx for your help................

You can simply remove the compressor and brackets from the engine, with no worries about any aftershocks. I would also remove the condenser from in front of the radiator, since you're going topless. Just be sure to save/keep all of it for the next caretaker of the car.

You really are supposed to reclaim the R12 refrigerant.......it damages the ozone for supposedly 76 years. Now if the charge happens to already have leaked out....then as Joel mentioned you can proceed to remove the components.

I assumed since it doesn't work, there's no freon left in it to start with...
