First let me thank everyone for their advice.I changed the clutch on the fan and the thermostat .After I was done Ol Blue ran soCoolcool! The stat that was replaced was a 195 degree,I put a 180 in.The temp gage started to go up and when it hit the set point it droped and stayed at the same spot even in stop and go driving.

Hey Rick,
Glad to hear it was a simple fix!
Hopefully you can get that beaut out and put some more miles on 'er.
Kevin

P.S. I'd be interested in any feedback from other members on the change from the 195 to the 180 degree 'stat.

I actually run a 160 degree thermostat in mine and it seems to work fine. But I probably will do most of my driving in Oklahoma during the warmer times of the year, so I'm not concerned with a heater thats not getting warm enough, and besides do not even have the heater hooked up. I change the thermostat out twice a year in my Chevy Pickup from 160 to 180 because with the 160 the heater does not get warm enough.

My heater core is bypassed.
I drive it only in the warmer months so I may change the t-stat from the 195 to the 180 for starters.
Thanks for the info.
