Trans Cooler Flow

Well I guess this is going to be posted in the right spot.  I'm trying to figure out the flow of the transmission fluid through the internal radiator trans cooler.  Is it the same as the coolant flow where Hot water enters at top and cooled fluids exit at the bottom?

Or am I way off?

The trans cooler needs to enter at the bottom of the cooler.  This purges the air out of the cooler.  If air remains in the cooler, it won't transfer heat properly.  Due to the flow, fluid, and size, this is a bit different from the radiator.  If an additional aftermarket cooler is installed if should go from the outlet of the trans, to the bottom of the radiator trans cooler, out the top, to the bottom of the aftermarket add on unit, and out the top of that one to return to the trans.

If an aftermarket is installed before the factory cooler, the factory one can acutally heat the fluid back up a bit due to the engine coolant temp.
