Jim G - yeah, the compressor I installed takes 6 oz of Ester Oil, and I also learned the hard way (my knuckles still hurt!) that the $15 for the Spanner Wrench was well worth it!.  HOWEVER, I'm learning that the Four Seasons rebuilt compressors are JUNK.  One more try flushing out the condensor, then out with the 'new' compressor, and off to Advance Auto to get my money back.  No more rebuilts for me!

Well, after all this, I've figured out the that the Four Seasons compressor was junk.  Ended up bringing it back, and even Advanced Auto's manganer told me on the sly that she tries to get people not to buy the Four Season rebuilts since they have a high failure rate. 

Just put in a brandy new AC Delco compressor, now trying to add the oil.  The problem I'm having is that it'll only take 4 oz if I pour it into the compressor (it drips out the ports if I try to put more in).  Once I've re-attached the high/low hoses, how can I shove the other 4 oz required in?  There's a plug on the top of the R4 compressor being held in place by a C ring.... can I remove that and pour the other 4 oz in there?

You will not be happy with your C-3 a/c until you take the whole thing out and replace it with a system made by Hot Rod Air.  Not terribly hard to install, always cold and guaranteed.  Who could ask for more?  You can spend the $1150 on Hot Rod Air or more than that chasing your old A/C problems.

I agree unless you want to keep it origional...had mine for over 2 yrs now & not one problem.
