Well on Friday I decided to take the Vette up to Mystic Conn. for a getawayCool.  The ride was nice until the traffic of I-95doh.  That was bad and the heat coming from the engine compartment was a problem as wellUnhappy.  I was reading up on some of the threads posted here and when I get a chance, I will have to check the seals by the wipers and small holes on the firewall.  But all and all the trip was nice with the tops off and just enjoying the ride when the car was in motion in the shade.  Will check for the bad heat coming off the engine.  Any other suggestion?

Have you had your carpets out of the car yet? Today's heat insulation materials  used underneath the carpeting are far superior to that from the factory and make a world of a difference.

Hey stingray1,
I blocked off my heater core with some valves so it'll be functional this fall if I want it. It really made a difference and it wasn't too difficult to do.
Glad you had a nice ride!
Kevin
P.S. If you're ever heading up this way, let me know.

after doing all the things, like heater check valves, firewall seals, insulating the floors, inner and outer fresh air doors, making sure the heater and air belden cables were adjusted corectly and the vacuum activators worked I still had heat coming in, on my 72 I found that the heater fan still ran with the heater switch on the off position, it has something to do with the Astro Ventilation, because I have no need to use the heater during the summer I disconnected the fan ground wire at the motor, helped alot, when the weather gets colder hook it back up.anips2009-08-09 20:04:40

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

What happened to you a couple weeks ago? We had a WONDERFUL time in Mystic. 12 or so cars and 20 plus participants.  Would have been so much better with another car and more people.  Next time O.K.   Any time in a VETTE is a good time, even if you are alone.
