I gotta vent my frustration with Weiand ...  Anyone ever have a problem with a Weiand Pump. I installed a "new" aluminum, high volume pump last Nov, ($118.00) as my factory original was leaking and I figured it would be better.... The "new" Weiand started leaking at the seal after  7 months and a trip to PF,  so I got a replacement from Advance. Installed it Saturday.  Yesterday taking it to get front end alignment the new one blew the gasket of the pump body near the top (not the pump to block) which naturally blew all the anti- freeze over the engine etc in about 15 seconds (you get the messy picture), it only had 2 days and 35 miles on it. Never ran over 200 deg... Must not have been assembled properly. Of course Advance will replace it again but not my labor and clean-up. This is 2 water pumps different problems in 8 months. Of course i couldn't get alignment either. I sent this to Holley/Weiand, and waiting for response...

I have never used any of their products.

I have had similar problems with other products over the years.

Thats why I stay away from Advance Auto. Go to a reputable parts store and get A C Delco parts for your Vette. Your stress level will drop dramatically.

I agree with Scott. I would trust a part from a junkyard more than one from Advance Auto Parts.

I've been using the Weiand Team G pump (WND-8220) on my motor for a little over a year now.  So far no problems... hopefully it continues without any.  Seemed like a nice quality pump when I was putting it on.

it does't sound like the problem is Advance Auto Parts. Weiand is a big name brand, part of Holley. I would be interested to find out what respons, if any you get from the manufacturer. What ever happened to Matt anyway? he worked for Holley.....Hmmm.....

This wasn't an Advance brand.. this came from Weiand... it could be bought anywhere...  I just don't like paying GM prices, and have had good luck so far with discount auto places like Advance, Auto-Zone and Car Quest, and NAPA... I guess quality control slipped on these two. It is a hefty lookin pump and I will put one more in tomorrow and see if it holds up...

GM prices are really not that far out of line, and really, it will be of better quality than any aftermarket brand. The same does not hold true for every part, but think of the testing and development that manufactuers go through. I work at a dealer and I see people 'cheap-out" to save a buck, and quite often return with the same problem and end up paying for the same repair twice.....Just some food for thought....Actually this could be a new thread.....

OK, I have typed about 5 pages here and  backspaced it out every time. I keep remembering what Dad said about saying something nice or saying nothing at all. I just did it again. I have about 30 minutes invested in this post.

Just read the first post again .

Have a nice day everyone.
