Topic: Weiand water pump
in Forum: C3 Cooling and Heating Systems
Ray,
I have friends who use a pump high volume pump from Stewart Components & they love it. It has brought his temp down in his big block & saved him from buying an aluminim radiator.
I installed one but my motor is still out of the car.
They are cast iron direct fit & priced fairly.
Take a look.........http://www.stewartcomponents.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc

it does't sound like the problem is Advance Auto Parts. Weiand is a big name brand, part of Holley. I would be interested to find out what respons, if any you get from the manufacturer. What ever happened to Matt anyway? he worked for Holley.....Hmmm.....

This is the response I got back... I have responded back and maybe I have made it clearer... although I thought I was clear that I had put a pressure test on it and it blew water out the rear impeller housing plate????
I'm Quoting this...
"Please clarify your question. Water pumps do not hold pressure.
Your question was:
Is the weiand 8212 pump correct for a big block 1973 vette?.. I got one from Advance auto parts but it will not hold 14 lbs pressure. What pressure should it withstand. Is this possibly the wrong application from advance...?
If you have further questions, please reply directly to this email with history without altering the subject line."

They look pretty good and the price is right too. If I don't hear anything from Weiand I will probably give Stewart a shot... what the hell.. gotta get it running. If the problem is something beside the water pump I guess I will find out. If it was overheating or something I would suspect something else but it runs right at 195-200. It's getting frustrating. I could take it out/ put it back in 30 min. blindfolded now... I'll let ya know...

Thank you Ray . I have recently been shopping for such goodies and I had always trusted that name without ever trying any of their products. I thought "Weiand" meant unsurpassed quality and engineering.Guess they went "econo".
Did it say MADE IN CHINA on it ?

I can't say say Weiand is bad... just yet, but I have ordered a pump from Stewart and if it works without a problem... I will definitely have something to say to Advance and Weiand.... If I have a problem that's not beacause of a water pump then I will know I guess...I will say I am disapointed with the reply I got back from there "Tech Rep". I am still waiting for them to answer my last e-mail...
