Personally-- I would rebuild the 350 and change the rear end gears to something that was available the same year as the car. I know----I'm a purest!

If you dudes don't mind me askin'. How much does something like dat cost? I do not like the high RPM's on the interstate and the next thing I had planned on doing was that.
Thanks,
gurtz

I hate to sound stupid, but the Vette is new to me. What is a level 2 and who is BTO? I also assume the 1700 clams is parts only. You changed it out?
Thanks,
gurtz
ther is probably a stop that the 350 use d for a stop. it will be a small bracket that you can cut down slightly to get to first gear manually. the stop is under the colsole and is not a bolt in item.

The shifter does have to be modified to use on an O/D trans, if you want all 4 gears manually. The detent plate on the shifter can be changed for this, or, if you feel like a machinist, you can modify your shifter to work. It involves cutting the detent plate to allow more movement.
BTO is Bowtie Overdrives...they specialize in 3pd to O/D conversions, and can provide anything you need, including the trans. They have different "levels" of performance for the transmissions, depending on the amount of modifications they make to the unit.

Well, being the cheap S.O.B. that I've become in my retirement stage, I bought a used 200R4 from a friend out of his wrecked GN Buick that I knew was good. $200.00. Parts from BTO (internal wiring and relay kit) came to about $125.00. Parts from TCI (carburator linkage kit-Holley and TV cable bracket) about $60.00. I still have the original TH350 and made NO modifications to the original car. Purist is not in my job description. I have changed most of the engine parts that I can, modified as much of the suspension as I can without cutting anything and still am not satisfied. I think tubular A-arms and single leaf spring front suspension are next. Still trying to get rid of that 49' Chevy ride. LOL
No, no purist left in me.
jbra,
ATTABOY!!! Nothing of that era came out of the factory good enough or fast enough for me.
Even my '59 Biscayne coupe now has a 292 GMC dumptruck surplus fuel injected, ported, cammed-up, and headered 6-banger under the hood with a TH350...
