Have a question-is there someway to reseach what spleen size aligns with the clutch? Want to replace the clutch while the tranny is out-Tremac believes it is a 31, want to find a way to valiadate. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike

Are you talking about how many splines there are on the clutch disc/input shaft? If so, there are several different counts on the Tremecs, depending on application.
31 sounds about right for a GM/Izuzu shaft. I can look to see what the options are, but...there's really no way to be 100% sure without actually counting the splines in the input shaft, or the clutch disc.
Are you wanting to order a clutch set before you pull the trans? If you have a Tremec aftermarket supplied trans, there should be a tag, or stamping on it with the serial/application number. With that, Tremec should be able to verify the spline count.

Its been a wile since I delt with this but if I remember right a Tremec is sold as a GM Tremec if thats what You plan to Use it in. As is a Ford for a Ford. The only Diffrence is the Spline Count as far as I know. So Yes I beleive that it is 31. However Mcleod Clutch, Chevy 5 Speed, and Keizler Engineering would be able to answer this in a Heartbeat. ( in this case a Chevy heartbeat) Richard......

Thanks guys for the input...I ordered and received the new 5-speed, and yes it is a 31 tooth spleen. I'm having the clutch/throw out bearing replaced at the same time. The shop will machine the flywheel at the same time to minimize any problems. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Just so you use the correct terminology, a spleen is in your body.
A spline is in you Vette.

My car is out of the shop with the new 5 speed from Classic Chevy 5 Speed. Most significant problem was a "automatic drive shaft and larger yoke" was found to be installed. A manual driveshaft yoke is smaller, so we had to get a different shaft/yoke shipped in and a very tight install. A couple more adventures along the way but they got past them okay. A good company (Classic Chevy 5 Speed) to work with-tech support was great. Conte's in Vineland, NJ did the install, their 4th one. They also did a great job. Best of all, I'm cruising 65mph @ 1900 rpm.

Kewl news, Mike!
There were several different yoke sizes/splines used over the lifespan of the Mid-Years and Sharks...ya just really never know what ya got until you get it out. I know my '74, with the BW Super T10 has the large yoke...same as the 400 automatic. The later cars may have used the larger yoke, and may have had the smaller one. Then, the Muncies, had an early and a late, too!
Anyway, glad to hear they got it all working!! Put a few miles on 'er, and let us know how ya like it!
