Thanks Alan,
I know I said that it's for light duty and cruisin ,but, I may once try and light them up at a stop light just to get the feel. I just don't want to worry all the time about clutch parts coming through the floor to cut off my feet?
You have a big block with all that torque and you dont have one, so I'll not worry so much..Terry

I've been known to get heavy footed...but usually not from a stop cause I think I could burn the tires off the rims. Also never go near the max RPM. Have fun
Good Luck

I want to thank Alan for his help and for recommending Classic Chevy 5Speed as the supplier.
Jeff and Scott at Classic Chevy 5Speed are great to work with and easy to get a hold of.
I don't have the offset shifter yet so I am driving it without the center console plate.
It is one of the smoothest shifting transmission I have ever used and 5th gear turns the Vette into a ticket waiting to happen.

Sounds like you did exactly what I did & you're right about the 5th gear. It's make driving a pleasure...I can drive 75 now without listening to the engine scream & the trans get smoother as you put on more miles. It's hard to believe but I get almost mpg when we're cruising in the mountains of Pa. Glad every thing went OK.

Jim-
Thanks for the kind words.
If you think that the Tremec shifter shifts smmothly, wait until your install the McLeod offset shifter - it is an awesome shifter. I was at McLeod today and the shifters are being assembled so we should have them shortly.

I replaced my 4 sp with a 5 speed last winter. I purchased a 1991 camaro RS with a 305, used the bellhousing from the camaro (it sits the tranny at an angle) and when I cut the cross member I replaced the center section with the center crossmember section from the camaro (using the camaro crossmember bolts) the camaro drive shaft had to be modified to fit the vet rearend. The only cuttin I did was to the crossmember -- using the camaro bellhousing placed the shifter in the same location as the original.
