Need a little help. Suddenly my 81 manual won't shift into reverse. Gear shift moves left but won't go forward into reverse. Had new clutch installed a couple of years with no problems until today.

Mark, did you get under the car to see if any clips fell off the shifting rods?
Sounds like something is blocking the rod paths. you heard no noise in the trany...right?
Joel is the tranny master and I'm sure will have some ideas.

Hi,
Heard no noise at all- have not checked under the car. I"ll check for anything underneath.

  Thanks

Got it  into reverse. Wife was a big help; she must have loosened it up. Figures, it was her car initially until I took it over when the driver seat stuck and she couldn't reach the clutch.

  Appreciate the help.
  Thanks

Sounds like the linkage might need adjusting. If the linkage for 1-2 & 3-4 don't wind up right in neutral, it can keep the shifter from moving.
Also, there might be a problem with the steering column lock-out cable....or something just got loose.
What did you do to get it to work, and do you think it will stay "fixed"?
