 How much experience has anyone had with the aluminum flywheel. Sounds tempting, but there are a lot of conflicting opinions in a street application. Anyone have one ? Would you do it again ?

Depends on what you are doing with it. A heavier flywheel is better for drag racing.

Alum wheels are good for light-weight cars, and corner burners with lottsa torque. Not so much for a street car, unless it's a big block with some stump pullers in the diff.

Once the pads/lining for it gets damaged, it can cost a bundle to have it relined. They should also be balanced with the engine components, as part of an engine build. Just bolting one on is normally gonna create a harmonic vibration that will eventually cause crank damage, or even split the main bearing webs in the block.

I have used alum flywheels in the past on drag cars, but the cars were always super light, and we ran really low gear ratios(4.88.1 5.14.1).
My opinion is they just ain't worth runnin on a normal, street driven car.
