the first gear isnt as deep on the 200 but the od is the roughly same
i belive the 200r4 is an easier mod... i think you can use the existing transmission mount

Besides the trans and torque converter, you'll need:
Filler tube & stick for an '82 Corvette
TV cable, and adapter for the carb.
Crossmember mods(or conversion crossmember, or one out of an '82 Vette)
Driveshaft work(shortened)
Speedo gears to match what you have in the 350.
Shifter mods, if you want manual control for all gears
Someone to put it all together, and last, but not least, a little $$$
btw...the major difference in the crossmember mods between the 2004R, and the 700, is the 700 has a HUGE speedo housing, where the 2004R, and the 350 have small, "bullet" style housings. The xmember needs to be clearanced for the speedo housing on the 700, but not the 2004R.
You CAN use a 350 tailhousing on the 700, tho, and keep the smaller bullet style speedo housing, and gears. You do need to shorten the output shaft of the trans about 1/2-3/4".

I did my 700r4 in my garage with a hyd jack. Get a trans jack conversion to swap out for your cup on the jack. It makes the install soooo much easier. It is like a transmission jack but will fit on a floor jack. It has extending plates to keep it stable and a adjustment knob to tilt it back and forth or left and right to help line it up. Just jack the car up enough (use big jack stands at all four corners) to slide the old trans out and the new one under. Have a friend help place it on the jack. Then go to town. That is if you want to do it yourself as I did.
I did the 200-4R in my 73. It is the best mod you can do for an automatic car.

Hey Kevin are you going to do it yourself or do you need someone to do it.
If you need someone I know a guy up by me, he rebuilt my 700R4. He is into muscle cars and all the guys around use him. That's all he does is transmissions. If you want to talk to him PM me and I'll give you his number.

Dave - Im gonna use Jimmy Allen at Allens Performance for the swap. Great old school wrench and a Chevy guy..
That's cool. Good to have someone you can trust do the work.

I did mine with some help from a little skinny redneck good ole boy. I got a replacement cross-member from Bow Tie Overdrives and a TV cable from Lokar, but I understand Bowtie's TV cable is better, but you couldn't prove it by me, mine's fine.
Only problem with a 700-R4 is that it will kick down to 3rd @ WOT at any speed. I floored it at 100 MPH and the engine screamed it guts almost plumb out. There is some TV valve body mods to prevent that and I would suggest you do them B4 installation. I have not made that mod yet and am not sure if it will prevent any downshift at WOT. I f you don't plan on finding out just what your top end really is in OD, you probably won't need the T-valve mod.
