I'm thinking of changing my auto.shifter for something new& more modern. My problem is I have a 700r4 in my 75 corvette. Anybody know were I can go and find something that would work? I haven't found a web site that explains anything or a supplier that I can contact?

I put the Hurst Quarter Stick in my '77 with the 700R4.  I like it a lot.  It was really easy to install.  I just made an adapter plate to bolt into the existing holes, then mounted the Hurst to that.  Also had to trim a piece that is in front of the shifter a little bit.  Only thing I haven't done yet is a new boot around it, just haven't taken the time, but that shouldn't be too bad either.

I don't have any good pics of it.  I'll run outside and take some.

Looks GREAT!  Can you hold it in first gear as long as you want to. By the way your car sure looks and has the same set up as mine! Hmm,must work pritty good. About the only dif. is the side pipes. I'm going with cambered pipes. Also did you make the adapter yourself? ThanksClap

Thanks!  Yeah you can hold it in gear as long as you want to just like a regular shifter.  Only thing I forgot to mention which could be important to you, is that the gear indicator on the right does not work anymore.  I didn't try to see if there was a way to get them to work together, just figured I didn't need it.  I took it all out and I'm thinking of a way to cover up the space using carbon fiber looking stuff or making a plate with a vette emblem, just going for something different.  The adapter plate was easy to make.  I just picked up a piece of steel plate, I think it was about 2" (get it at least the width of the base of the shifter) and either 1/8" or 3/16" thick.  Just remember there is a console support piece that will have to be trimmed.  The Quarter Stick is a little bigger, it needed more space to get under the support piece and more room for the cable to move freely.  I trimmed it using a Dremel with a cutting wheel attachment.  I've also seen a '77 with a Hurst Pistol Grip.  Didn't require as much trimming because the base was smaller.  Also, take your time in positioning the shifter, just make sure you don't interfere with anything through all the gears before you have your location set.  You'll want to put the console back on so you can test that it doesn't hit that in any place from Park back to 1st also before you mount it.

You have a great looing vette!  I just got my TTII's last summer and I can't tell you how much I stared at your sig pic before making my decision.  Your vette was one of the closest I could find that looked like mine and ultimately drove me to go ahead with the 17" rather than sticking with 15's or only going up to 16's.  So, I owe you a big thanks because they are awesome!
