Just purchased a B&M Kit from Summit,or was it Jegs, and wanted to use the street/strip setup & Trick Shift fluid in my '77.What do you fellow Vette owners think of these products, and if your using either, let me know how things are.If I dont use it in the Vette,I suppose the '78 Cutlass could use them, cuz they're both TH-350's.

Jon,
If your tranny in the vette has a lot of miles on it, I would think twice before installing your shift kit. I've seen a few guys snap output shafts and blow up the planetary gear sets in older trannys after installing these kits. If its in good shape, you shouldn't have problems off the get go. But if you decide to "hammer" it frequently, things will eventually let loose. Make sure that all your U-joints, bushings, etc. in the rear are good. These kits shift much harder, sending lots of instantanous shock through the drivetrain.
Good Luck, Sarge

Vette(s): 1974 Black 454 Stingray coupe, turbo 400 tranny, barry grant 750 carb, hooker super competition headers, moves along!
i have a 74 big block, i installed the shift kit for stage three "race", i followed all the steps, and when finished i realized i could no longer shift when i wanted to. All i did was rehook the vacum line to the tranny and it shifts quickly and when i want it to. The best of both worlds. Good luck.
