Bell housing painted or not?

Was a 70 4 speed bell housing painted chevrolet orange?

The bellhousings were on the engines when they were painted, so the bellhousing will have varying degrees of paint. Some were painted almost completely, some just had about 3-4 inches of the front edge painted.
On my '74, the bellhousing was almost completely covered, but still had about 2 inches or so towards the rear that did not have any paint on it.
