Nope, that didn't work, but of course we had hamburgers and beer for dinner tonight instead of fine wine

Thanks for the (real) advice, though. Like you and Sarge said, I bought the Energy Suspension mounts today. We have a local parts house (Baxter's) in the Portland/Vancouver area that carries a lot of speed gear and they had two in stock so I was able to pick 'em up for $70 or so for the set. I'm hoping to put them on tonight since we have people coming over tomorrow for the 4th - if I need some extra muscle to move that motor/tranny around, I'll have it then!
Thanks all for the good advice! Hopefully I'll have this problem solved in a day or two, then it's on to the next one, whatever it is.
Dave, I sure hope things work out for you. The best of luck to you!

I got the new mounts in last night, but engine is still suspended - I need some help to get that thing in the right position now! The mounts went in real easy once I got the motor a few inches up.

DON'T BUY AUTOZONE MOTOR MOUNTS! JUNK! Glad I found my receipt so I can take them back.
Look at how much wider the ears are on the Autozone mount (bottom) vs. the Energy Suspension:
Here's a pic of the energy suspension mount sitting INSIDE the Autozone:
Just to close the loop on this one: the correct size Energy Suspension motor mounts 100% solved the problem. Just got the back tranny bolts threaded in and torqued (along with the thru bolts on the motor mounts) tonight. Felt good to have all that stuff put together and there's no jacks or cherry pickers over or under the transmission or motor any more!
Oh, and I got my money back from the Autozone mounts. Thanks for the help guys!
It's great when things start to come together, isn't it? Pretty soon you'll be DRIVING!!!!!!

Keep up the good work!
Barry
