The "twisting" action caused by rocking the wheel in and out is a result of either atrut rod bushings or excessive end play in the yokes at the differential. Maximum end play on the yokes is .050". The half shafts and strut rods are what holds the rear wheel in proper vertical alignment, not the swing arm bushings (but they could be worn anyway). Front to back movement on the t-arms would indicate worn t-arm bushings.
