Hi yall! I bought a six speed!!! Wish me luck on getting it in the car. Anyways I need to buy a clutch/ pressure plate for it. I won't be getting a mechancial clutch because the trans is forcing me to buy a hydraulic style clutch, but I figure a good brand name is a good brand name. So... what brand of clutch should I buy? What brands should I stay away from? And please don't tell me centerforce, I know they're the best but the only clutch that they make that works in my application is over $800 so thanks but eek! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks -Adam

I got a six speed from a 96 camaro... There is alot of fun stuff that has to be done to make it work but the magic is the flywheel from centerforce, part number 700107. It bolts to a 2 piece rear main seal engine and works with the 93-97 F-Body Hydraulic clutch. After it's in I'll be sure to give everyone a full report including an explanation of installation. -Adam

Borg Warner T-56... Tremec makes it now, but it's the same thing basically. It's used in the Firebirds, Camaros, Cobras, Vipers, and of course Corvettes. The Corvette is the only one that mounts it in the rear. They all have different bellhousings and input shafts so they're not so universal. The only one that will work with our cars is the F-Body T-56 from 93-97.

Personally, for many street applications and some performance, I like Luc clutches. Very durable, operate easily, good life, and take a certain amount of abuse. If you really want serious High Performance, racing etc. there are several to chose from Summit and Jegs. In that case I would recommend a Kevlar material, no matter who makes it.
