I want to replace the bushings for the upper clutch/break assembly. I believe you have to take out the steering column & dash to get to them. I've replaced the lower ones. Has anyone done this?? I can't find the upper bushings. I believe they are supposed to be plastic & rubber...rubber on the inside of the plastic. Is this correct??
I did a search, but nothing came up.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Unfortunately, you are correct!
The brake/clutch pedals swing on one common "axle/pivot", and it is a pita to replace these bushings. You can get the brake pedal off OK in an automatic, but the clutch pedal is the one with the "axle/pivot" shaft made on it. There is not enough room to pull it out of the support bracket before it hits on the kick-panel/cowl area.
You will have to drop the steering column, and unbolt the bracket assy. that holds the two pedals. Taking the driver side dash(speedo/tach) off is a must, also. I know there is another thread on this here somewhere, but I haven't found it. I'll keep looking, 'cause I think there is a pic/diagram of the assy. on that thread.....may the force be with you!
The bushings(nylon) should be available, but I haven't looked for any in years, so...
otay....I give up! Here's an Exploded view of the pedal assy & bracket, to give you an idea of what your looking at, as far as replacing these bushings. I have the bushing part # outlined. (part "1" in the call-out)Adams' Apple 38729.8384722222

Cool...thanks! I have that diagram in the assembly manuel, but it's only half there....like the ink quit workin in the copier.
So, this is a better picture!!
I thought I saw something like that on a thread too, but when I did the search, nothing came up.
I got the part number for the bushing, but I still can't find one...yet. Frustrating!!

If he don't have them, he'll probably know who do.
