I have begun the long arduous process of stripping every part and sanding and priming..

I disassembled the front spindles

and im cleaning them up

there is a rubber disc against the spindle support does anyone know the official name of this part ??

mine are pretty raggedy..

but im making progress I have most of the cross members cleaned up and primed.. and everything but the spindle supports in the front suspension.

does anyone need a serviceable fron bolt on crossmember.. for a 69.. you can have it for 5$+ shipping ?

Ben,
I think I know what you are talking about. There is a gasket or flat seal that goes between the brake dust shield and the spindle. Is that what you are talking about?

Most of the suppliers carry this piece.

I don't know what it is called either, but I did almost the same thing you did ,pressure washed the whole front end, sanded it down repainted it ,the A-frame bushings are almost brand new,I put in new sway bar bushings and new A frame to sway bar kits.plus new wheel bearings,I just took a screwdriver blade, and cleaned all the old grease off of that part in the spindle and applied fresh grease,I think its just a back up seal to keep a lot of junk away from the seal on the hub.don't know what you would call it |hammer| |headscratch|

Its called a brake splash shield gasket.

The corvette Central part number for this piece is 573046. It comes as a pair for $5.00. I'm sure other vendors have the same part as well.

Corvette America call is a backing shield gasket their part number is 33369, again $5 for the pair.

I had to buy these as well.
