I am thinking about a new transmission - 4 speed Auto 700R4. I was wanting to get feedback on improved gas milage. I now get a whopping 10 - 11 mpg with a Chevy 350 HO crate engine, 330 HP 380 ftlbs.

I recommend it! It wont help you driving around the city but cruising at high speed (50 mph+)for long distances will see significant improvment. and will make your engine run at lower rpms therefore less wear on the engine. Contact bowtie overdrives for the swap. You can do it all your self also with there kits.

Vette(s): 1975 T-Tops,Lite Custom work,Many engine mod. 700R4 trans. body is shaved,17" wheels bf goodrich g-force tires,heavy sway bars front&rear rack&pinion steering,550 slolom springs with gas shocks.
I did mine in my garage with out the help of bow-tie or any other company in one week. I went from 14 to 15 mpg. to 20+ mpg. I also get much better performance around town because of the lower 1St. gear. The hardest part was shorting my drive shaft and that wasn't a real problem just getting the correct parts took a day or two.
If you need help send me a E-Mail and I'll walk you through it. The most important part is the TV cable ajustment if it isn't correct you will burn up the trans real quick! Best of luck.

Personally I would make the change BUT Not for your stated reason of improving gas milage....
I have absolutely no problem with opening my wallet and dumping out dollars in an effort to improve the preformance of my cars...or to make them last longer
BUT I do have a problem with spending money to save money...
Investing a $1,000 to increase gas milage 20 percent on a car I drove 5000 miles a year would be a bad investment...
BUT if I invested that same $1,000 to
1. Make the car accelerate stronger from stop sign to stop sign
2. Bring down the RPM's from 3500 to 2500 while "tooling" down the interstate at 75 mph...(save wear & tear)
I would be more then willing to spend the $1,000
Return on investment would be immediate for my purposes but years for your purpose...
As always just my own warped way of thinking...and I am not a politician...

im making a change from 4spd to 6spd .. while it will improve the gas mileage by 36%... i figured it out, it would take around 90000 highway miles to pay back the upgrade..
my reasons are identical to bob's
