Was thinking of replacing my 4 spd linkage in my 76 l48.

I've had Hurst shifters in other cars and always liked them more than the stock ones, but I have a couple of questions when it comes to putting one in the 76.

Do you need to adapt the stock backup light switch to work with the Hurst linkage?

In order to remove my ignition key, my car needs to be in reverse. Is this a funtion of the stock linkage that will need to be adapted to the Hurst linkage?

And finally, does the standard Hurst shifter sit higher (in the console) than the normal stock shifter?

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I might be able to help on some of the questions you have, I believe when you by hurst linkage you buy the shifter and linkage to fit your application, another words they have two differant part #'s, don't know why they don't put the whole thing in a kit, anyway,the rev.lever has a hole in it so you can hook up the B.U. switch link to it just like stock, as far as the rev. lock out cable, mine was gone when I got the car, I believe it hooks to the rev lever also adjusted at the steering column lever, the previous owner put on the fake muncie handle, took it off and put on a Hurst handle, they come in differant lenghts, mine sticks up above the console about 3.5-4ins with a T- grip, I've seen longer ones on other vettes, order what you want anips38491.8735763889
