try who again.. I did talk to keisler on the phone..
I really was only pursuing keisler because they claimed to have a 19.5" x 2" offset shifter.
their customer service leaves alot to be desired. it took me six weeks to get a straight answer to a simple question.
as for mjpell he was very helpful, answered my questions promptly in email and has a good price. if he gets in the ball park of what i can afford, he gets the business.
and he doesnt have a 13 week wait on a transmission.

Keisler has an absolutely TERRIBLE reputation for customer service. I was giving serious thought to installing their 5-speed into my '69 L71, but their past history turns me off.
Besides here, I also belong to an on-line club for '66-'67 Dodge Chargers since I own a '67, and the experiences there dealing with Keisler are many and uniformly unhappy.
Several years ago I bought a reproduction tali light lens set for my Charger from Keisler...what a headache, but not nearly as bad as others have reported. I ordered the lens set and never received it. I called again and was given an excuse but this time did receive the parts...at $50 on my charge card more than quoted. After getting that corrected, I haven't dealt with Keisler's since.
I have seen glowing reviews in the car magazines about the Keisler 5-speed conversions...I guess if you identify yourself as being from a car mag you get first class treatment. I've seen complaints from people who have bought the conversion saying the machine work was poor.
All I can say is beware of dealing with Keisler. I'm sure they do have satisfied customers, but it's the large number of unhappy customers that concerns me.

I came to that conclusion also..
I was willing to deal with some BS if they had a product no one else did.
but they do not.
5speedtransmissions is helpful but apparently a little more expensive that the other two i listed above..
keisler is very expensive.

jeff at classicchevy5speed has really good prices on the transmissions. (better than keisler or 5speed)
he doesnt stock some of the other parts (like crossmember, drive shaft and slip yoke) but showed me where to get them and in my search i found a good deal on a drive shaft with the slip yoke included for less than either 5speed or keisler wanted for both(300 vs 450+/550)..
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/nitrous_ready.html
anyway.. he answers he email and explains things well (as does mjpell @5speed/forte) so it looks like I have another viable option..
i did find one other place selling these trans but there prices arent very good and they dont have much info or an email address (arrgh!!)
http://ddperformance.com/index.htm
anyway anyone thinking about this swap should give both 5speed and classicchevy a look.
