Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.

Right now I have a automatic trans in my car and I found this guy who is selling a 4 speed Muncie that came out of a 69 vette, bell housing, drive shaft, foot paddle and every thing that goes with it with a clutch plate for 1200.00. Is this worth the money?

Don't sound bad Dave. Are you gettin the shifter, linkage, boots, etc. for the console. Also are the hanger brackets for the peddle complete. Thats a criticle portion and a B*%&h to install. There just ain't no good way to get comfortable while stickin it in.
If all of this stuff is there then you are on your way... GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hey I will check about the shifter I did not ask about that. But the linkage yes and he said that it was rebuilt. When I look at the  hanger brackets what am I looking for as for complete? I thought those were welded to the car?

You can purchase most of the parts new for the linkages.  What can't be purchased new, can be purchased used from several used parts suppliers.   As for the bracket, it mounts to the firewall and the brake booster studs are attached through it.  I know on 1st generation Camaros, the swing pedal assemblies are different between automatic and manual cars.  My 69 Corvette is a four speed so I haven't had the opportunity to check to see if there is a difference.  The price this guy is quoting for the parts isn't too steep. Is the flywheel included?  As for the shifter, if you are not looking for something original looking, order a new Hurst Shifter.  I would definately send the trans out to have it freshened up before you install it and find out the syncros are going out or the bearings are bad.
