I have a '69 with a 350/300 and a TH400. I just bought it, I noticed that it doesn't kick down into passing gear. I looked for a cable or a rod, but didn't see anything, what accomplishes this task? The original carb was replaced with a 709207, a '69 carb for a 350 with a manual trans. this is the first old Chevy I've owned, so I'm learning.
Thanks,
Matt

the kick down is electric on the car... still has a vaccum modulator to check.. but the kick down switch is under dash, put your head under the dash and push the pedal.. it should hit a switch.. this is your kick down..
sometimes the bracket is bent or the switch can be adjusted.

Check to make sure the vacuum hose is connected to the module on the trans and at the intake vacuum tree.
