Update:

Set up and adjusted the TV cable> If anyone is doing this conversion, I highly recommend the TV cable set up that Bowtie Overdrive sells. They include the cable, carb bracket and all necessary hardware. Another really nice product from these folks. I actually kinked the cable that came with the kit and called them for another and they sent it to me for free!  Really great folks Thumbs Up

Filled the trans with 6 quarts (deep pan takes an extra 2 qts) and ready to start and add the remaining fluid. Should be running later tonight.

Currently doing my chores so I can play with the Lukester later. I'm power-washing everything that doesn't move!!! Shocked  Well almost everything Wink

Last but not least, I need to take the console apart to install the shifter conversion, but that's not necessary to get the Lukester up and running...

Later folks

Paul

Yeppir, the factory setting that you'll read all about is as Dr Joel told me yesterday, just a starting point. At the baseline setting, she was shifting 1/2 way early as well as 2/3 and 2/3 was doing some funky stuff under medium acceleration...Confused

Well, I wound up feeding half the adjustment back (adding back TV pressure) and the response was immediate and smile provoking.Big smile   I got another 10 MPH out of the 1/2 shift and she "barked" (not chirped) the tires.   2/3 will give you a minor case of whiplash and 3/OD is smooth and she humms along at about 1600 RPM at 60 MPH!! Clap

Joel, as always, U DA MAN!!! Thumbs Up  Thanks for your advice yesterday - you nailed it!!

Glad that was all it was, Luke-guy!!!Clap
Paul, another thing you might notice is, if you put the shifter into 3rd gear instead of O/D, the 2-3 shift will be even firmer. That depends on what all the guy did to the valve body, but it's a neat thing, since it allows for a little smoother shift when leaving it in O/D for "normal" driving, but if ya wanna romp on it, put it down into 3rd, and then shift it manually into O/D.

That has to do with the lock up?

....uh...no...
Has nothing to do with lockup. Just saying that depending on what was done to the VB, the shifts 1-2-3 will be firmer if the shifter is left in 3rd, instead of O/D position. It really doesn't make a lot of difference, it's just something I have discovered on my own.
The lock-up function would not be affected at all by it.

I'm in the process of edgamacatin myself on the lock up converters. But I hear ya on leaving it in third. It's like having a TH350 and a 700R4 in the same case!! Thumbs Up
