OK, Mr Dumbass again, I am not sure if I am just unlucky or keep making stupid mistake either way I need help again

I have fixed my transmission problem with it being stuck in revers, I fixed my problem with not being able to get the clutch to function now I have another problem, when I removed the gearbox I removed the linkage i.e the lever and all that is attached to it, I did remove the small pin that prevent the lever from moving up and down and cleaned and re-installed it, but did not take it any further apart, now it is as if the gear lever has had too much to drink it just falls backwards
also I cannot select gears, I can move it to the upright position but as soon as I let go it falls over (backwards), OK so obviously something is not lined up and peering down through the transmission tunnel does not make it any clearer, can anyone tell me what is not aligned and how to aligh it, I have a fear that I need to 'remove' the linkage and that is going to be a nightmare.

Ho HUM

Thanks
Gary

Way to go Gary. Once you've rebuilt every part of your car it becomes easier to understand
and there are fewer mysteries, then there's the electrical side
.

If you ever want to make yourself feel smarter just come talk to me for a minute or two. I like to tell myself I'm getting good experience when I put stuff together 2, 3, 4, times and as long as you aint breaking the stuff your trying to fix your doing all right.

I think my car hates me !, if you check other posts you will see I am now having an oil pressure problem to deal with, maybe it knows I have to sell it once complete and it is doing it's best to prevent the sale.
Yes sad but true and worse thing is I do not want to sell it, also i have spent a fortune on this car which i will never get back, but a looming house purchase is forcing my hand, but I have sworn I will have another one before I leave this earth.
P.S. I still think this is the worst designed gearbox I have ever met and I have met a lot, Sorry Zora !!
