Was reading other posts on original rear leaf springs.  I am rebuilding mine (1972 BB Coupe) and purchased new liners.  According to Richard Prince's Corvette Restoration Guide "nine leaf springs do not have a liner between leaf no. 6 and leaf no. 7 (with the bottom leaf being no. 1).  Any one know if there was a reason for this.  Was wondering if I should put it in anyway.  I dont' care about originality. Thanks.

The upper 2-3 springs don't use a liner because they really don't flex much, so there's no friction between the leaves. That's the main purpose of the liners...to give the springs a slick surface to slide on as they flex. Thumbs Up
