With a 4-spd manual trans, 1970,when trans is in neutral does the clutch still have to be depressed to start engine? Mine does. Is this normal for a 1970 manual trans?
I think I found my answer...I have a neutral start switch.
Can a faulty switch cause starting or running problems?

I have to press my clutch on my 69. It's normal. I don't think it would have anything to do with running problems....the starter will not engauge unless the clutch is pressed it.

A bad switch will make it either not start, or it will allow it to start without pressing the pedal down.
The clutch should have to be pressed to start the car, regardless of shifter position.
