A friend of mine has an '82 Vette with a slight leak coming from the pinion seal.
1. How bad can the leak be before the seal needs to be replaced?
2. How difficult is it to replace the seal?
3. What are the major steps?
4. Do you need any special tools?
5. Any special tips or advice?

Dave, My 82 is leaking too and after spending some time under the car looking at the access, or lack thereof, to the offending part, I am wimping out and having mine done by a pro. The cast front brace on the differential housing makes access to the front yoke almost impossible. I know it can be done with out taking the differential out as some here have done it. Mine isnt dripping but it leaks enough to sling the differential grease on the bottom of the car and I cant stand looking under it and seeing greasy gunk.Going to have all three seals and universals replaced at the same time while he is there.
