Does anyone have a source for posi rear end parts?

Also, opinion needed: I recently acquired car, have everything behind the driveshaft on the floor, including differential. Differential did not make any noise etc, looks like someone had it apart and put back together with liquid seal. No leaks etc.

Would you have it taken down and checked, bearings/seals/clutch packs before you put it back in?

I would probably pull the cover and look for wear and chipped teeth..

and i would check for play..  if its in good shape.. i would just replace the seals..

make sure you chisel a small mark on the pinion nut and a reference mark on the shaft to tighten it back to the exact same spot..

the fun part of the whole deal is putting that damn snap ring back on the right side axle shaft.

I sell rear end parts and we offer rebuilds also. What parts are you looking for? If the diff wasn't making any noise before or leaking, I would just open it up and look at the gears. Like mentioned above, check them for wear or chipped teeth. Your side yokes should move in and out no more than a 1/16" - 1/8". If they do, you should replace them.
