Vette(s): 1976 Silver/Firethorn. L48, 4spd. Original 2 bolt, vortec heads, 9.4:1 CR, Speed Pro Cam: 224/224@0.050, 112 LSA, Eagle Steel Crank.
When I took everything apart about a year ago I put all the bolts for various items in separate baggies and labeled them.  Funny thing, though, I don't have a baggie for the pressure plate.  I guess I probably should use new ones anyway?  (I do have new bolts for the flywheel)  Are those just grade 8 shoulder bolts?  How long?   Parts store or Ace Hardware?  Do I need to spring for ARP's?

I'm planning on installing the motor in the morning.  Still haven't completely committed, but I'm hopeful....

Dave they are grade 8 (180,000psig) 1 inch long 3/8-16. Here is a link to ARP (Summit Racing).

You can even buy 200,000 psig, but I don't think that you are going into serious drag racing.

Thanks for the advice, Larry!  I went to a local performance parts store this AM before I started and bought ARP's for both the flywheel and the pressure plate.  (I had previously bought a set of flywheel bolts, but they were generic, probably made in China).  I used this nifty tool from ARP to download the instructions for the flywheel bolts

but the instructions for the pressure plate bolts had "not been uploaded yet".  How hard can it be?  I took a chance and used my own improvised method: 55 ft-lbs (from my Haynes manual), blue loctite on the threads, and a little ass'y lube on the underside of the washers.  Sound OK?

Did your new clutch assy come with an alignment tool, or did you have one to line the clutch up when you tightened the pressure plate bolts? Hope so!
55 lbs/ft is fine on the pp bolts...loc-tite may be overkill, since the bolts usually have lock washers, but that's otay, too. Can never be too careful, right?Thumbs Up

Thanks, Joel.  Yep, clutch came with alignment tool and I used it to line up the disc.  Shouldn't have trouble there, at least.
