Haven't see it, but you better start thinking about pulling things apart to check your side yokes. They may be "mushroomed" on the ends or the spider gear pin may be getting severely worn. Usually the side yokes wear out first, allowing the whole halfshaft to move inward towards the differential. I wouldn't drive it until it's fixed. It may cost you tons more. Are the seals where the yokes go into the differential leaking?

The rear end in my 78 got so bad I stoped driving it!
I thought that $1000 worth of bearings and bushings
would fix it. I was wrong! When I opened up the rear
end I saw a twisted snap ring and a lot of junk floating around! The right stub axle had parted at the snap ring grove! I was lucky the rear end did'nt lock up with all
that junk floating around! Two years and $4000 later
I have a brand new rear with upgrade parts. Take the
time, spend the money, research the parts catologs
(look at Vette Brakes and Products for upgrades)
Don't cheap out! Do it better than it was-you"ll be
glad you did.
Good luck with your project!

Anything, but Stock and more mods to come!
SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
$4000!!!! Where were you shoping for parts? No offense, but you can buy a whole center section from Corvette Central ready to install for $800 bucks. Half shafts, ujoints and all the other stuff should cost more then $600. Why was it so expensive?

Oh, I see what you did, you did what I did, upgraded EVERYTHING
. Yep if you do that, meaning suspension and all, $4000 is about right.
