FA for a '68 is a 3:70, heavy duty, positrac, for the 427 engine. The W is for the Warren assembly plant...

The other nums are for the date code. Not sure how the earlier cars were dated, but later cars used a Julian date...your's appears to have a different date system. possibly M/D/Y.
Perhaps someone with better knowledge of the early date codes will let us know.
